Madrid Emprende presents two new support means for entrepreneurs: Madrid International Lab and Madrid Emprende Seed Capital

Means such as the "Madrid International Lab", greater flexibility in the bylaws controlling municipal licences for opening businesses, initial 50% subventions for Social Security premiums for self-employed workers under the age of 30, or the public-private seed capital fund for high-potential start-up financing, are just some of the new development operations of the Madrid Council business Initiative, as explained by Pedro Calvo, Delegate for Economy, Employment and Citizen Participation, at the entrepreneur and investor meeting held at the Madrid International Lab.

The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) is transferring its headquarters for Europe and Israel from Paris to Madrid

The new headquarters are located in the Madrid Council building "Madrid international Lab", at 41, Bailen Street.

The Swedish company H&M is installing its logistics platform for Southern Europe and North Africa in the Community of Madrid

This new installation incorporates maximum criteria of efficiency, sustainability and energy savings and will be commencing operations in October with a work force of 200. It has a surface area of 26,000 square metres and involved 25 million Euros in investment.

The Iveco Madrid factory will incorporate 1,200 new employees into its workforce until 2016, while 500 new employees will be incorporated at this plant until the end of the financial year.

Madrid received 88% of foreign investment in Spain during the first quarter of 2012

The Madrid region received 3,162 million Euros between January and March, compared to 274 million for Catalonia. Madrid is also the region that heads the ranking for providing Spanish investment abroad.

In June, 1,700 new companies were formed, which was 5% less than in the same month of 2011, a drop that was experienced throughout the country. The sectors showing most activity in Madrid during this month were business services with 314, commerce with 240 and construction with 229.
